The Chili Cook Off 2018, co-ordinated by Megan Pulsts and one of the culinary highlights of the year, went off without a gastronomic hitch March 25th at the Beach House. The highly esculent morsels included 7 meat chilis, 1 veggie chili, 3 soups, 3 cornbreads, and 2 dessert breads. Also on the menu for the first time — beer — which won the favorite beverage award. The 2018 Chili Cook Off Grand Prize was awarded to the talented Peggy Brogan. Second place meat chili award went to the Beef Birdhouse chili created by the effervescent Jen Colatosh & Adnan Adams. First place veggie chili, the Smoked Veggie Chili went to “Smokin” Travis Schamerhorn (most votes overall!). First place soup, Sweet Pea Soup, was whipped up by Heather Winship. Second place soup, Carrot Ginger, went to Alan Gordon. First place bread, the Cheesy Cajun Cornbread, was corralled by Chris Clark. There was a tie for second in the bread category–Poundcake, by Tracey Johnson and Broccoli Bread by Faye Ridling. Congratulations all!
