Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Starting this year, PLAIN will be shifting its focus outwards, toward serving the community around it, it as well as Pine Lake. We hope to use the positive energy within Pine Lake to create a positive impact for the broader community.
This means that we will be putting much less focus on our Pine Lake social events., with the exceptions of mardi gras brunch and breakfast with santa celebrations. The following events will no longer be managed by PLAIN and need coordinators in order to be held:
Easter egg hunt
Memorial day picnic
July 4th picnic
Halloween/Day of the Dead celebration.
Some events have already found volunteer coordinators, but will need more volunteers to pull off:
chili and soup cook-off (feb) coordinated by Megan Pulst
labor day picnic (sept) coordinated by Lakefest
lighting of the lake (dec) coordinated by Greg Creech
Christmas cookie exchange (dec) coordinated by Tracey Johnson.
Of course, we all enjoy these events, so we hope that one of our neighbors will step forward and organize each of these events. PLAIN can provide help to finance these events, help find interested volunteers, and make the beach house available, if needed. I you are interested in coordinating any of these events, please let us know and we can help you. Contact us at email@example.com.
PLAIN will continue to run the Pine Lake breakfasts, ten times a year, including mardi gras brunch and breakfast with santa. At some of these events, we hope to engage with all of you in working with us to help others in our community by donating items such as school supplies, winter coats and canned goods.
Coming at the PLAIN breakfast on September 1, 9:30-11:30 am is PLAIN’s Rockbridge Elementary school coat, book bag, and underwear drive. Bring a new or like new coat (grades k-5), book bag (grades k-5), and/or underwear (for kindergarten ages). This effort is in conjunction with the principal, teachers, and staff at Rockbridge Elementary.
If you have any questions or concerns please come to the september 20th 7:00 PLAIN meeting at the beach house (3rd thursday of most] months) and let us know what you think.
