What PLAIN is up to now

As voted on in May, PLAIN is shifting to less events and more service oriented programs. We will still have our signature monthly pancake breakfasts but will focus on service. What kind of service? A couple of things we have talked about doing or expanding are: more neighborhood caring and sharing; collecting food, clothing and backpacks for school kids at the monthly breakfasts; adopt a planter; trash pick up, etc. We welcome your suggestions for other activities. Also let us know if you can help carry out any of these activities.

At the bottom of this post is a list of activities that other neighborhoods received grants for from the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta. This is the group from whom we received a grant for the beach chairs and planters and we plan to ask them for another, larger grant in future. Please take a look at this list, let us know any other suggestions you may have for our future grant request and also let us know if there is something you would like to lend a hand to.

Ashview Heights Community Association Corporation	To increase resident participation through branding, beautification, and activities such as a 5K and music festival.
Campbellton Road West Corridor Community Development	To host a series of meetings at the William Walker Recreation Center to support revitalization of Campbellton Road.
Cascade Heights Business Consortium	To host three health and wellness events in 2018.
Hands, Feet, & Mouth Inc.	To expand a neighborhood after-school program and cover costs for program staff and activities.
Sustainable Norcross Inc.	To recruit vendors and conduct research on behalf of the Norcross Community Market.
Telecom Professionals for Social Responsibility	To support Camp Integrity, a character-building camp with an anti-bullying focus.
We Thrive in Riverside Renters Association	To host a National Night Out Against Crime in collaboration with local public safety departments.
Columbia Alliance Sustainable Neighborhood Initiative	To provide a welcome entrance sign to the Green Forrest Community in south DeKalb County.
Northwoods Area Neighborhood Association	To install sign-toppers on street signs to strengthen neighborhood identity.
Pine Lake Association of Involved Neighbors	To support a beach beautification project, including cleanup costs and the purchase of outdoor furniture.
