HERO NEIGHBORS

Each month we’d like to appreciate a notable Hero Neighbor, someone who goes above and beyond for our community.

This month we’d like to recognize
Bonnie McQuagge, for organizing a fundraiser and getting this sweet pup, Rocky, a doggie wheelchair and other products to make his life better. Thank you for rallying our community, Bonnie!

Thanks for being part of PLAIN. If you have a suggestion please contact us or come to our next meeting, the third Thursday of each month at the Beach House. All are welcome!

NEIGHBORS TO NEIGHBORS

The generosity of the community is a hallmark of the people of Pine Lake. Neighbors to Neighbors provides a framework for decision-making, managing funds, and tracking distributions of these generous donations. The three areas of Neighbors to Neighbors focus on:

  1. People in Need: Pine Lake individuals and families experiencing critical needs may turn to PLAIN for support. This includes access to the Food Pantry and modest cash support.
  2. Rockbridge Elementary SchoolPLAIN supports Rockbridge Elementary School in partnership with the school administration by providing food, school supplies, coats, and turkeys at Thanksgiving, and a beginning of the year luncheon for teachers.
  3. Community Engagement: PLAIN aims to foster community engagement in two ways. Disbursements were for:
    • PLAIN Community Events: Saturday breakfasts*, Mardi Gras*, July 4th cookout, and the Christmas Lighting and cookie exchange. (*these events were paid for by attendee meal purchases, not by donations.)
    • Financial support for community events planned by others. In 2022 these were Lake Fest, PrideLake, and the GoFundMe supported Wildlife lecture and demonstration.
