The PrideLake Committee would like to announce that our third annual Pride celebration will be Saturday, September 21st. The theme is “Back to Camp,” and we are excited to share the day with our Family, friends, and neighbors. As you may be aware, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security have issued warnings that Pride events this year have a heightened risk of being targeted by terrorist organizations and their followers. The warnings do not specifically mention domestic terrorism, but we know who targets us through legislation and direct violence. Our community has faced threats and brutal violence from the self-righteous for our entire lives and for all of history. We are confident in our Chief and local police officers’ desire and ability to keep our Pride safe from those who would attempt to harm us in broad daylight in a public park. We will not be shamed into hiding ever again. Their hate and threats and violence will not silence our joy.
