Happy New Year from PLAIN!
Let’s start the New Year with some events!
With the holidays we are taking a break from our Pancake Breakfast in January, normally scheduled for January 2nd.
Our January meeting is on Thursday, January 21 at the Beach House at 7:00 PM. Please come and be involved with our activities in the New Year.
We’ll have our normal Pancake breakfast on February 6 from 8:30 – 10:30 at the Beach House and our regular meeting on February 18 at the Beach House 7:00 PM.
Get ready for our Chili Cook-off, annual treat on Sunday, February 21 at the Beach House 4:00 – 7:00 PM. As usual we’ll have prizes in various categories for chilies and soups. Be sure to label the ingredients and degree of hotness.
Finally, our fabulous Mardi Gras Brunch is on March 5th from 10:00 – Noon at the Beach House. So break out those Mardi Gras beads, masks, boas, costumes, tiaras, and other festive attire are encouraged. Menu will feature beignets, jambalaya, king cake, cafe au lait and more. This event is free if you are bringing a dish to share or $7 for non-members and $6 for members with a $1 discount- if you bring your own plate, cup and utensils. Children under 10 are $3. More details to follow.
Hi, Pine Lakers,
Santa Claus is coming to town! On Saturday, December 5, PLAIN will host our special “Breakfast with Santa” at the Beach House from 8:30-10:30am with an Artist’s Market (thanks Lalah for organizing and our terrific artists for participating). Besides terrific gifts to purchase, we’ll have pancakes, bacon, sausage, veggie options, eggs, coffee, OJ, and more! Breakfast is $7 for adults with a $1 discount for PLAIN members and $1 discount for anyone who brings their own utensils, plates and cups. $3 for children under 10. Also, we will have a Pine Lake Children’s Choir rehearsal immediately following the breakfast with “Jingle Bells”, “Deck the Halls”, and “Dreidel, Dreidel”.
Lawrence Andrade has kindly volunteered to take photos of you and/or your family with Santa at no fee; however, I’m sure tips are appreciated. PLAIN will reimburse Lawrence for his supplies.
After we go home, decorate, and take a nap, we return to the Beach House at 6:30 for our Cookie Exchange and Lighting of the Lake. We will have our fabulous and filling Cookie Exchange and then our holiday entertainment begins around 7:00. Nancy Moore will delight us with her vocal talents, and our Pine Lake Children’s Choir will perform. I’ll be emceeing and at the piano messing things up for us. Then, we go outside and light of up the lake to officially begin our holiday time in Pine Lake.

Because it is a holiday weekend and many are out of town, instead of our usual Pancake breakfast this July 5th, we will have a “Pot-luck” breakfast/brunch at the Clubhouse from 9AM-11AM. We will provide juice, tea and coffee. Please bring a dish to share, along with your plates, cups and utensils. You can also renew your membership or join PLAIN at this event. Come enjoy the company of your neighbors at the clubhouse from 9am-11am.
Mark your calendars! June 4th is the next scheduled community breakfast. It is Pine Lake Association of Involved Neighbors renewal time too so we expect a big turn out.
Breakfast is free for the families renewing their membership!
Our search for a regular crew continues. We are short 1-2 people right now. If you’d like to try your hand at hash browns for 50 give me a call. We are open to trying different things to serve… So call with your ideas too:)
Please come help Lois cook on Saturday! The crew is meeting at 7am at the Beach House and at this point is a bit short-staffed. We need 2 or 3 more folks to help.
Good times – there’s just no bonding like standing over the griddles together, spatulas in hand. All the pans full of steaming scrambled eggs and pancakes, happy neighbors with plates in hand and hungry looks – such a deep down satisfaction. AND, big news . . . PLAIN has sprung for Brand new, uber-fabulous NEW GRIDDLES!! Be a part of the first breakfast crew to try them out! Call Lois and tell her you’ll be there to help so she’ll stop stressing.
Everyone come out for the PLAIN Pancake breakfast at the Beach House:
8:30-10:30 (food starts running out around 10)
$6. for PLAIN members and seniors 60+
$7. for non-PLAIN members
$3. for kids 5-12 (under 5 eat free)
Take $1. off if you go green and bring your own plates and utensils.
See you at breakfast!
As you’ve seen from the Tree Board announcements, we’re having a first Saturday breakfast this weekend at the beach house. (*BEACH *HOUSE!) Come one, come all!
8:30: food is out and ready for consumption.
10:30: food is gone and you’re full and content.
In between: you’re eating, chatting, and buying seedlings to plant or give away.
PLAIN membership saves you $1 per person, as does bringing your own plate, cup and silverware.
See you there!
The Pancake Breakfast will be at the Club House on Saturday and it will be pastries and coffee (no pancakes). The Town Hall Meeting is conveniently scheduled right after breakfast at the Club House.
