Pine Lake will celebrate Memorial Day on Saturday, May 29, with its usual festivities. We will honor the sacrifice of U.S. men and women who died while in military service with a parade, a cookout, ice cream social, opening of the beach and dedication of the Eastern Greenspace.
If you are a veteran of our Armed Forces, come join the parade. We would be honored to have you. If you are a kid (or kid-at-heart), decorate your bike, trike, scooter, wheelchair, golf cart or solar-powered skate-board and join the parade. Adults are encouraged to add trucks, cars and other vehicles. The parade will assemble at the Clubhouse at noon and proceed down Spruce to Lakeshore for the official opening of the Beach. There will also be an official ribbon-cutting for the Eastern Greenspace to officially open the wetlands walk.
After Mayor Zarus opens the beach to swimming [pending healthy bacteria report], we’ll have a cookout & potluck (beginning about 12:30pm). The city will provide dogs & burgers (veggie too!), paper goods and beverages. Residents are encouraged (but not required) to bring a side dish to share. (You can drop off your item at the Beach House before the parade if you want! Be sure & label any dishes you want returned.)
We’ll end with PLAIN’s old-fashioned Ice Cream Social at 2pm.
Volunteers needed to cook, setting up at 10:30am. Please contact Kathie deNobriga if you can help for a couple of hours!
